Question by iliketocolor: If I run for 30 minutes every day, how much weight could I expect to lose?
I’m a 16 year old girl, I’m about 5’3, and I weigh 115 pounds. I’m not exactly looking to lose weight, I just want to get into shape and slim up a little bit. If I run for 30 minutes non stop at least 4 days of the week, and have a healthy diet, what will that do for me?

You’re on the right track. The most important thing is the diet. Diet has about 80% to do with losing weight n getting in shape. The other 20% is the working out. You will lose weight. You wont gain muscle mass unless you add some resistance training. I am currently reading the engine 2 diet by rip esselstyn and it rocks. Its about eating a whole food diet. You will lose weight with that but also get you a better blood pressure, blood sugar, n cholesterol readings. You will also feel like you have a bunch of energy.

Glad to see a girl working on personal fitness rather than lazying around. Anyways, as for the cardio that is a great part of a workout. Definitely great for caloric burning (calorie loss). However if you want to become Tone i would also recommend, in no way cutting out the running, but try and do weights as well. Most girls miss an essential part of toning up and shaping up through muscle development. You won’t gain big giant muscles like you see in those ( my opinion quite disgusting) pictures of the big guy with inhumane muscles. But get some squats in there to develop tone legs, pushups are always good, and work with light dumbbells for high reps to shape up the chest, while toning your chest/legs you also make your core tight with workouts.
As for the results you can expect it definitely varies person person and body, there isn’t specific results we can really give you without knowing almost everything about you. I can tell you for sure with a “good diet” that can mean a lot of things for different people, but a well balanced diet with greens/meats/etc and that cardio workout you will loose weight, but not necessarily “shape up”. That goes back to what i said before, weight training. So if you need any other advise I’m more than happy to help.
I’d have to know exactly how many calories you’re eating in a day to give you an estimate, just don’t worry about it you’re still growing so the last thing you need is some strict diet.
Keep exercising if you desire and eat your fill, you will have the rest of your life for diets enjoy being able to eat what you want while you can.
