Question by HottMamma: How much weight did you lose right after giving birth?
Im 33 weeks pregnant and so far ive gained about 25 pounds. I’m not really worried about losing weight immediately after but im curious as to about how much i could lose. I’ve been eating very healthy this pregnany so i have a feeling that most of the weight ive gained is from extra blood and water retention. My boobs have also gotten at least a cup size bigger so im sure that has something to do with it. If anyone has any stories on how much they lost please share
I have a fast metabolism if that makes any difference

I gained about the same… and I instantly lost at least 15 of it.

when I came home after my first daughter was born I had lost about 18 of the 40 lbs I gained. I was ecstatic until I realized the other 22 weren’t coming off so easily. She was about 9lbs herself and you lose A LOT of fluid in the delivery and afterward. I have never peed so much in my life.
I lost nearly a stone (14lbs) rite after my son was born it took about a week 4 my boobs 2 go bk 2 normal, then i had 2 wrk 2 get the rest of the weight off. Oh but I hav a very slow metabolism so it cud b different 4 u
I too have a fast metabolism and I gained a total of 40 pounds. I was a bit thin before getting pregnant though and I have lost 30 of the 40 pounds (without doing anything and eating whatever I want) and my baby is 4 months old. I feel like I look good though, everyone says you can’t tell I had a baby. I think people just say that though because they think you want to hear it. Frankly I don’t care, my baby is here and she’s healthy and that’s all that I care about.
I initially lost 15 pounds when I had my daughter – she was 9lbs 4oz so most of that was her. 2 weeks later, I am down by 25 lbs, and I only gained 21 lbs my whole pregnancy. I have also gone up 4 cup sizes and have a lot of milk (6 + oz every 3 hours) so I was surprised I had lost so much! =P I can only hope the trend continues – last time I was pregnant I gained 32 pounds and had lost 40 lbs by 2 weeks, but I don’t remember how much I lost immediately (it was 10 years ago)
I gained about 60 pounds and lost half of that after birth. BIG baby, BIG placenta, ALOT of water. I lost another 5-10 pounds simply in water weight the next few nights. I’m still lingering on that last 13 pounds,… I’m getting there. If you really want to have the weight melt off of you, breastfeed. It’s good for you, and your baby gets a great headstart. Eat like you did when you were pregnant and exercise every day and you’ll be back to normal in no time.
I ate very healthy. I ended up only gaining 5lbs while being preggo. But I was a bit overweight to begin with. But I left the hospital almost 20 lbs lighter. My son was only 5lb 5 oz at birth. I have never peed, nor sweat that much ever. Now after getting home, and my son at 5 months it is a totally different story. I am at my normal pre pregnant weight, but I seem to be a bit more chubby. My boobs are still huge, though my hubby loves that. I do have a very slow metabolism. But that runs in m family. I work very hard to keep my weight down right now. If you are worried try not to be. You can easily take your child for nice long walks. That is what I am doing right now, it seems to help me tone back up a bit. Good luck with your soon to be blessing
I gained 27 pounds and lost 20 within a week of giving birth. It’s been five weeks now and I haven’t lost any more. I’ve heard that if you gain within the recommended amount (25 – 35lbs) that the last 10 or so will be the most difficult to lose. Also, if you are breastfeeding you usually won’t lose all the weight until after you stop.
well I gained 20 lbs. and I have lost 17 lbs already. It has been three weeks since I gave birth. You will be ok. If you nurse It will help you loose it fast! Nursing burns calories and you just have to sit there and not even move! Its great!
around 16 lbs
i gained 47 pounds throughout my pregnancy…and first 2 weeks i lost 30..then 7 and i have been stuck with the last 10. Ill get it off though lol.
I gained about 20 lbs in my pregnancy, and have a slow metabolism. I lost it all plus a little more thanks to nursing, all by about 4 weeks post partum.
I gained 35 lbs. I was 130 lbs. before being pregnant and lost 25 lbs in the hospital. My son weighed 8lbs. 15 oz. I lost another 5 lbs. in the next week and the last five have finally gone…5 months post partum. I have nursed the whole time as well. It really does help. I eat like a pig and the weight keeps coming off, I also go for long hikes with babe and workout with weights during his morning naps.
Good luck and don’t be too hard on yourself…it will come off!
I gained 40 pounds and lost 25 of it at my 2 week check up. Now it’s been 4 weeks and I’m almost positive that I’ve lost at least 30. Am back to normal inches everywhere but my lower tummy, and even that is nearly almost back.
I also exercise religiously everyday and breastfeed- both work wonders for weight loss!
They weighed me at the hospital the day after and I had lost 13 pounds. Baby was just over 8 pounds, and I had gained five pounds during the pregnancy. (Yes, five, there were unusual circumstances, I was really overweight and lost weight at the beginning of the pregnancy because I stopped eating crap, was eating well, and moving more! All under specialist’s care.)
If you’ll be breastfeeding, don’t worry about the weight loss – you need the extra calories for your baby.
I gained 20lbs total with my first pregnancy and just a day after having my daughter I had lost all the weight. A lot of it is water weight, extra blood, placenta, baby. So most of that 25 will be almost immediately taken. Buuuut, just cause it’s taken does NOT mean you’ll have your prebaby body. You’ll definately have to work out and get it back into shape. But, you sound like you’re doing great!!
This is my 2nd pregnancy and at first I lost 15lbs. I’m 32 weeks now and have gained the 15back. Now I’m just waiting to see how much more I gain. Eeek!
Good luck & congrats!!!
I gained 43 at my 33 week check up, delivered 3 days later. at my 1 week check up, i had lost 23, not having done anything to lose the weight.
My son was preemie, and I lost about 7 lbs that day, in the next two weeks I lost another 5. With him I had gained no weight due to hyperemesis. With this baby (due in 4 weeks!) I have gained 15 pound and from my guess at least 6 pounds of that is boobs, rest is the ginormous balloon of a belly. I FEEL HUGE!
gained 37 lost 16 asap
