Question by Khari: HOW do you lose weight on crystal meth [speed, methamphetamine]?
Ok, so Ive done the stuff before in the past. way long ago.

I know that you dont eat and that is partial to the weight loss? I was thinking that maybe with a very high heart rate, it makes you burn calories as if running [though running devours your heart].

And please read before you post:
1. I DONT DO IT ANYMORE.
2. I know what it does to you, dont bother sharing
3. I want to know because my friends were curious. though I’d drop some knowledge ; ] haha

Thanks!
Reply to Mamma: I never said any of my friends still do it. Once again. I already know everything about what it does. Hence the reason I quit. My friends [who used to do it as well] and I were just talking about it.

You lose weight because you don’t feel the need to eat for energy. The high heart rate could possibly help by burning calories as you guessed – but the main reason is people that use meth don’t eat very much.

Dude…partial reason of weight loss? try more like the main reason other than not sleeping that much there for burning more calories while ur awake and the more often u do it the more weight u will lose and the more chances of becoming addicted …sorry I had to throw that in …lol, kind of like phen-phen that now is illegal.

Amphetamines have three primary mechanisms of action that cause weight loss. Methamphetamine is the strongest of all stimulants/amphetamines, and is even available by prescription (the brand name is Desoxyn) in extreme causes of obesity when other methods have failed. In effect, weight loss is actually a side effect of the drug use. It is also important to note that these drugs only effective in short term weight loss, mainly because tolerance building up very quickly.
Foremost, stimulant drugs not only substantially reduce appetite, but often cause nausea and other symptoms that keep a person from desiring food. Ultimately the success of weight loss is based on the control of diet. However in the case of methamphetamine, it’s actions are so strong that diet is irrelevant because you’re not eating anything.
One of the most important factors about amphetamines is that they dramatically speeds up many of your bodies functions (which is why it’s called speed). In this case the key function that is that the metabolic rate is sped up. Basically, the process in which your body’s enzymes break down fat cells and burn calories is accelerated dramatically.
In addition, the functions of the gastrointestinal system is also working faster. This causes faster digestion, absorption, and excretion that is not only faster, but increased. The use of this drug will increase urination causing a drop in the amount of water weight your body caries, which can be very damaging if not kept well hydrated.
The last important factor that results in weight loss from amphetamine use is that your body is approximately 25% more active due to the lack of sleep. The more activity the body endures, the more calories are burned, and the body has more time for the gastric system to continue elimination of broken down fat cells.
In summary, methamphetamine causes weight loss due to:
    - Substantially decreased or eliminated appetite
    - Metabolic acceleration causing the body to break down fat cells more than the normal and burn calories faster
    - The gastrointestinal system works at an increased rate resulting in additional elimination of weight
    - Lack of sleep naturally leads to increased activity

With the combination of the lack of food intake, additional body activity, faster elimination, plus the accelerated caloric burning and metabolism, the result is weight loss, though ultimately it is usually temporary.

Yeah ok, I did that crap too back in the day. Why don’t you just be a good friend to your “friends” and tell them not to do that crap, since it can KILL you. The part about speeding up the heart? That is not a joke. And there is no pause button that comes with your gram bag. So think smart!
    Good Luck.

Well you’re heart rate is faster so you have more energy. You’re doing more and you want to do more. All that work is burning calories, and the fact the you’re not eating makes you lose weight fast.
